She Kicks Back – Jade Anderson (Newcastle Utd WFC Res)

She’s black and white through and through, with her goalscoring abilities now added to by some exciting wing play.

1. Name: Jade Anderson

2. Age (D.O.B): 16 – 14/08/1997

3. Team: Newcastle United WFC

4. Position (and have you always played there)? Winger. I can play on either wing and can ping a cross in with both feet, although I do prefer to play on the right. When I first started playing I was a striker scoring the goals but now I get just as much enjoyment out of setting them up.

5. Team Supported / Favourite player? That has to be my beloved Newcastle United, I’m a Toon Army Fan through and through but I must admit I’m the No1 Fan of Grainger Park Boys U-8s as I love to watch my little brother follow in my footsteps. My favourite types of players are the ones that are tricky, skilful and move fast with the ball.. the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, oops and my little brother James Anderson of course!

6. Occupation/or what you are studying? I am currently a student at Tynemet College studying a NVQ Level 2 in Sports.

7. Are there other footballers in your family? My dad used to play for his Regiment when he was in the Army (many moons ago). He was classed as a utility player but most of the time he would get put on the wing. Also my brother James, who I am so proud of… he is starting to show a good eye for goal.

8. Favourite game you have played in (and why)? My favourite game so far must be my first competitive game for Newcastle United WFC. I got to wear the famous black and white stripes. I had had many a dream about that moment. We were playing Derby – a very physical side – and were getting beat 3-2 with about 10 minutes left on the clock, when the manager) told me to go upfront. Within seconds I received a through ball from Claire Pitt which led to me slotting home the equaliser. The final score was 3-3. What dreams are made for?

9. Your best attribute as a player? My best attribute is scaring defenders by running at them with speed. My crossing and shooting abilities aren’t too bad either, if I do say so myself.

10. What are your ambitions in football? My ambition at the moment is to continue playing for NUWFC and hopefully gain promotion. Who knows, if I work hard enough and keep my feet on the ground, one day I might get my break and even play for England in a World Cup. I still have a lot to learn about the beautiful game. Most of all I have a smile on my face and enjoy life with a football at my feet.

11. Who has been the biggest influence in or on your football career? My dad by far, he always has something good or bad to say to me after every session, whether it be at training or after a game. It helps me try to improve my game as he knows what he’s talking about, well most of the time. My dad also travels everywhere with me to every game and training session, even if it is a long away game he still comes to support me and the team. Hopefully, one day the girls will get used to his flags and big mouth on the side lines because he is one sorry dad.

12. What is the best thing about playing for your team? The best thing about playing for my side is the way I have been accepted into the team. All the lasses are really nice on and off the pitch this has made me feel so at ease and it’s a pleasure to have the opportunity to be a part of NUWFC. I’m getting some great training and also learning from some of the more experienced players, who are a joy to play alongside.

13. If you got to design your team’s kit, what would it look like? I would never change the tradition of the black and white Newcastle stripes as I think it stands out and has been a big part of me growing up

14. Do you listen to music to get you motivated, or while you train – if so, what tracks? We always have music on when we are getting changed we normally have chart music on unless our goalkeeper Kayla is choosing the music, which isn’t a good idea as she has bad taste in music which normally results in us having to listen to anything from Disney songs to a bit of opera. I’m sure if she had her way we would all have to break out in a song and dance to Disney’s The Lion king

15. Who, that plays for your team, should we know more about and why? I think the player to watch out for is Jasmine Trundley. Jaz can make it very difficult for the opposition to play their game as she is a very determent player and does not give teams any time on the ball. When she gets the ball she is very strong and skilful and has a great eye for goal. She never gives up and always puts 100% into her game. She is the Midfield Maestro.
