She Kicks Back – Bridie Hannon (Bradford City)

The Bantams’ skipper led her side to a third-place finish in the Northern Combination, after going unbeaten for most of the campaign.

1. Name: Bridie Hannon

2. Age (D.O.B): 23. 18-11-1989

3. Team: Bradford City Women’s FC

4. Position (and have you always played there)? Centre Mid now, tried to be a striker but don’t know where the net is, tried to be a winger but not fast, fit or skillful enough!

5. Team Supporter/Fave player? Leeds United. Fave men’s – the one and only – David Beckham…ladies – Kelly Smith.

6. Occupation/or what you are studying? Customer service consultant at Nationwide Building Society

7. Are there other footballers in your family? No – just rugby, cricket and golf.

8. Favourite game you have played in (and why)? Captaining Bradford City in their biggest game against Charlton Athletic away last season in the FA Cup 3rd round (I think). Such an honour and exciting game too.

9. Your best attribute as a player? Range of passing, protecting / holding the ball.

10. What are your ambitions in football? I have experienced being at the top and at my age of 23, I want to play at a good standard but also enjoy it, which I do at Bradford City.

11. Who has been the biggest influence in or on your footballing career? Kelly Smith, because I’ve watched her since I was 14 and she’s like the female Beckham. When I was 16 I went to the Premier League Cup Final between Arsenal and Leeds at Scunthorpe and my friend was at the Arsenal Academy at the time and we had players’ lounge tickets, so I actually met Kelly and had a picture taken with her! I was star struck! She then went to America…and so did I!

12. What is the best thing about playing for your team? The girls are great and my coach Steve Winterburn is an exceptional guy.

13. If you got to design your team’s kit, what would it look like? Bit cheesy but I wouldn’t change it, I love our Nike kits! By far the best looking in our league! (The kits, that is!)

14. Do you listen to music to get you motivated, or while you train – if so, what tracks? As a team we listen to dance music in the changing rooms to get hyped up, and before we walk out to the pitch, we play Worlds Greatest by R-Kelly, it’s routine.

15. Who, that plays for your team, should we know more about and why? I think we should know more about Chantelle O’ Hara because she has lots of secrets which she keeps to herself!
