Shamrock Rovers to announce new coaching set-up as Zambra departs

Shamrock Rovers are set to announce a new coaching set-up for its women’s team – after confirming that former Puskas Award nominee Stephanie Zambra has left her role as interim head coach.

Zambra – Stephanie Roche prior to her marriage – took over in July 2025, and in a social media post suggested that she had expected to continue in the role next season.

“I’m grateful to have worked with such a committed group of staff and players over the last few months as interim, and to have spent the last six weeks planning and preparing for next season in the hope of bringing silverware to the club,” she wrote.

“I was genuinely looking forward to what was ahead, so I’m disappointed that it’s ended this way.”

SheKicks.net understands that a new head of women’s football has already been appointed along with the rest of the coaching staff.

Shamrock Rovers thank Zambra

Shamrock Rovers published a statement on their website thanking Zambra “for her valued contribution to the club over the last three years both as a player and in her coaching role.

“She stepped up as interim head coach in July 2025 following the departure of Collie O’Neill and we thank her for all that she and her staff brought to that role during the season. She leaves the club with our gratitude and best wishes in her next role.

“The Board has conducted a review of the women’s section at the club and will make an announcement on its strategic direction in due course.”

Stephanie Zambra: her career

Zambra was nominated for the 2013 Puskas Award – for the best goal of the year – when her effort from distance for Peamount United in 2013 went viral on social media.

As a player, she also represented Sunderland, and had spells in Italy, France and the USA, before retiring at the end of 2024.

She runs her own coaching company, Champion Coaching, and has been part of an Irish FA scheme to support former players into coaching, working with the junior international teams in recent months.
