Wednesday’s ScottishPower SWPL action brought third straight wins for Celtic, Glasgow City and Rangers with the post saving the latter against Hearts.

Dundee United 0-0 Hibernian
Glasgow City 4-1 Motherwell
Hamilton Academical 0-3 Partick Thistle
Hearts 1-2 Rangers
Montrose 1-2 Aberdeen
Spartans 0-5 Celtic

Hearts had an early effort ruled out for offside, Chelsea Cornet and Rio Hardy netted second-half goals for the Gers. Kathleen McGovern halved the deficit and Danni Findlay would have equalised but for the intervention of the upright.

Celtic stayed top on goal-difference after scoring five at Spartans, Shen Menglu first on the scoresheet after only five minutes. Chloe Craig followed up Caitlin Hayes’ header against the crossbar to double the lead, Amy Gallacher, Hayes and Clare Goldie grabbing one apiece after the break.

Glasgow City defeated Motherwell 4-1 to maintain their 100% record, Emily Whelan and Claire Walsh putting them two up in 20 minutes. Carla Boyce hit back but Cori Sullivan’s double sealed the victory for City.

Partick Thistle were 3-0 winners at Hamilton Academical, where Imogen Longcake broke the deadlock approaching half-time. Cara Henderson converted a second-half penalty won by Emma Lawton, who got the third goal herself.

Montrose are still looking for their first top-flight point despite a penalty save against Aberdeen. Jessica Broadrick scored early on before Hannah Stewart’s spot-kick brought a double save from Lauren Perry. Darcie Miller did later doubled the Dons’ lead, Jade McLaren then getting Montrose back in the game.

Dundee United got off the mark when holding Hibernian to a goalless draw. Brooke Nunn hit the post for Hibs but U’s keeper Megan Sidey kept the visitors out.
