ScottishPower SWPL: Rangers Women go top, Hibs win derby

Rangers overcame an early setback to go top of the ScottishPower SWPL  1 while Hibernian won the Edinburgh derby away at Hearts.

SWPL 1

Montrose 0-3 Spartans
Partick Thistle 1-0 Motherwell
Aberdeen 4-0 Hamilton Academical
Dundee United 1-8 Rangers
Hearts 0-1 Hibernian

Rangers had to come from behind during their 8-1 win at Dundee United, that put them top of the table. Keira Chuter gave the hosts a shock lead but hat-tricks by Kirsty Howat and Rio Hardy helped the Gers to a comfortable victory.

Hibernian won the Edinburgh derby against Hearts ,the only goal coming right at the end of the first half. Abbie Ferguson connected with the ball at the far post but it was deflected goalward by keeper Charlotte Parker-Smith

Partick Thistle made an 81st-minute breakthrough from substitute Megan Robb to edge Motherwell 1-0.

Bayley Hutchison, Hannah Stewart and Eva Thomson got goals in the first half for Aberdeen, Francesca Ogilvie completed the scoring against Hamilton late on.

Caley Gibb scored in either half as Spartans came away from Montrose with three points and as many goals, Lauren Berman with the third.

Glasgow Women 1-1 Kilmarnock
Boroughmuir Thistle 7-0 Gartcairn
St Johnstone 0-5 Livingston
Stirling University 0-6 Queen’s Park

Livingston ran out 5-0 winners at St Johnstone, one apiece from Anna Dickov, Ashley Elizabeth, Sharon Hughes-Lee, Courtney McAvoy and Fiona Walker.

Queen’s Park hit Stirling University for six, as Abby Casllaghan notched her first ever hat-trick in a 20-minute spell.

Boroughmuir went one better against Gartcairn, while Kilmarnock needed Jordan McLintock’s 94th-minute goal to draw at Glasgow Women.
