Scottish Women’s Football team up with She Kicks magazine

The game in Scotland is enjoying an exciting period of development with the senior national team aiming to qualify for their first finals at Euro 2017, the SWPL more competitive than ever and participation figures continuing to rise. Naturally, interest in the women’s game is also growing too. The governing body, Scottish Women’s Football (SWF), has inked a partnership with She Kicks magazine – the magazine for women’s football.

The partnership will see greater Scottish coverage and further elevate the profile of its top teams, players and officials. She Kicks magazine celebrates its 20th anniversary next month and also recognises that interest in the game in Scotland is increasing from within its own fan base. “Readers of She Kicks are fully aware of the likes of Kim Little, Gemma Fay, Lisa Evans, Jane Ross, Caroline Weir and co and teams like Glasgow City have raised awareness with their success and performances in the Champions League”, says Anthony Nolan, Commercial Manager for She Kicks. “Equally, we’re seeing an increase in subscribers from Scotland, so the partnership comes at a time where it makes sense to formalise an agreement.”

The partnership also offers fans of women’s and girls’ football the chance to help develop the game in Scotland. She Kicks will contribute £5 from every subscription to the SWF. “We hope that fans use the promo code SWF2016 when subscribing and we’ll donate £5 to the SWF and also give the fan £1 off the actual subscription price” states Anthony Nolan. “We understand the value and importance of every £1 within the game and if only a quarter of all registered players in Scotland subscribe that’s over £10,000 for the SWF to help grow the game”.

Women and girls’ football is one of the fastest growing sports globally, Scotland now has 8,230 players registered to play in Scotland, across 249 clubs:

  • Youth players U13 to U17 – 3,528
  • Senior players – 4,702
  • 68 senior clubs
  • 181 youth clubs
