The Scottish FA today unveiled a Women’s International Roll of Honour, a new tribute to Scotland players who have earned 100 caps during their international careers.
The Women’s International Roll of Honour is housed in the Scottish Football Museum at Hampden and consists of a permanent display highlighting each player’s debut and 100th appearances.
A special 100th cap for each player, presented from UEFA, will also be on show within a display cabinet.
A total of 12 players have earned 100 or more caps during their Scotland careers, including current team captain Gemma Fay, who earned her 200th cap during Friday’s 1-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland.
“To earn 100 caps for their country is a truly remarkable achievement and it is only fitting that there is a permanent display highlighting their magnificent service to their country within the Scottish Football Museum,” said Scottish FA President Alan McRae.
“It is a huge honour for the Scottish Football Museum to host the Women’s International Roll of Honour,” said Richard McBrearty, Scottish Football Museum curator.
“To already have 12 players in the Roll of Honour at its launch is symbolic of the rise women’s football in Scotland has experienced in the last generation and it is fitting to have a permanent exhibit that will continue to grow for generations to come.”
“It is fantastic for girls’ and women’s football in Scotland that we have a Roll of Honour recognising female players,” said SWNT head coach Anna Signeul.
“For a small country like Scotland to already have 12 players with over 100 caps is a huge achievement that says a lot about their commitment to play for their national team.
“I am so proud of the players who have achieved this and personally I am immensely proud to have been there for all 12 players’ hundred caps.”
The opening of the Scottish FA Women’s International Roll of Honour comes the day before the team flies out to the Netherlands to compete at UEFA Women’s Euro 2017, their first ever major tournament final.
The 12 Scotland players to be featured in the Scottish FA Women’s International Roll of Honour are: Jennifer Beattie, Ifeoma Dieke, Gemma Fay, Julie Fleeting, Suzanne Grant, Pauline Hamill, Joanne Love, Kim Little, Rhonda Jones, Jane Ross, Leanne Ross and Megan Sneddon.
