Scotland took an early lead after their captain converted a penalty and they went on to build a 6-0 lead before Norway responded.
The hosts hit back quickly however, sliding a seventh goal in just moments before half time and then ran in four more goals after the break.
In the other Group B games, the USA were beaten 8-2 by Kyrgyzstan, while the Netherlands defeated Wales 7-2.
England hit Greece 6-1 in Group A, a scoreline matched by Chile over India, while Mexico thumped Argentina 12-1.
Group games continue through Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week in George Square, Glasgow, followed by the knockout rounds.
