Scotland had to settle for a goalless draw away to Serbia in their opening UEFA Women’s EURO Qualifying League B Group 2 game.

Goalkeeper Sandy MacIver went off early on with a knee injury and she was replaced by Lee Gibson, who stopped a Tijana Filipovic cross on the line.

Erin Cuthbert drew a save from Milica Kostic, who got down to turn the shot away for a corner.

Jane Ross came off the bench at the break and soon went close but was denied by the crossbar from 25 yards.

Jovana Damnjanovic burst into the box but Gibson saved, then it took a Rachel Corise block to deny Filipovic.

Cuthbert went close for a second time as her effort was tipped wide by substitute goalkeeper Sara Cetinja, Sophie Howard might have done better when a ball from Cuthbert found her at the far post.

Scotland next host Slovakia on Tuesday 9 April, with a 7.35pm kick-off at Hampden Park.
