Two wins over Republic of Ireland and Finland coupled with other results going their way has meant Gareth Evans side will travel to Northern Ireland to compete in the finals between the 8th and 20th August, reports scottishfa.co.uk
Scotland kicked-off their Elite Round campaign in Limerick on Tuesday with a nail biting 2-1 victory. Captain Erin Cuthbert opened the scoring before Republic of Ireland levelled. With a stalemate looking likely, the Chelsea midfielder showed nerves of steel in the 97th minute to slot home a penalty.
In the second group game, against Finland, Carla Boyce opened the scoring for Scotland with the opposition levelling.
Scoring her second penalty in three days, Cuthbert notched from the spot to seal the win.
An Ireland win over Ukraine would have secured Scotland’s place in the finals for the first time since 2014 and they duly delivered with a 2-0 win over the side Gareth Evans team will face on Sunday.
A Ukraine side that shipped five in their Elite Round opener against Finland were put under pressure from the off and it only took Ireland forty seconds to pull ahead.
Good work in midfield played Dearbhaile Beirne in down the left and her cross caused Natalia Zinchenko’s charges all sorts of problems.
Failing to clear at the third attempt, Lucy McCartan snuck in to toe-poke past Bondarchuk to give Ireland the best possible start.
The decisive goal would arrive a minute before time, however. After a sublimely weighted pass from the boot of Roma McLaughlin, Saoirse Noonan took a touch to set herself before calmly finding the bottom corner to confirm the result.
