Hibernian lead the Scottish Building Society SWPL 1 table by three points from Glasgow City after a 2-0 victory over Forfar Farmington in front of BBC ALBA cameras at Station Park.

Forfar’s record attendance of 352 saw the home side threaten to dent Hibernian’s title hopes, as they held out until the last dozen minutes before conceding twice.

Hibs’ keeper Jenna Fife was left exposed in the 14th minute but Forfar put the chance over the top.

Lisa Robertson corners for caused concern at the other end, with one leading to a goalmouth scramble and another hitting the crossbar.

Rachel McLauchlan came off the Hibernian bench at half time and might have scored within 2 minutes. Sent clear by Abi Harrison, she rounded the goalkeeper but lost her footing before she could get the shot away.

McLauchlan was quickly involved again when delivering the ball for Jamie-Lee Napier, who was denied by the bar.

A Megan McCarthy header from a corner just after the hour mark forced Fife into a save.

Harrison went close with a powerful effort from the edge of the box on 76 minutes but shortly after did succeed in breaking the deadlock at the second attempt, Fiona McNicholl having parried the first.

Lauren Davidson then doubled the lead in the final minute of the ninety, latching onto a loose ball in the box when Forfar failed to clear.

Glasgow City play their game in hand on Hibs at Stirling University on Sunday, with the Old Firm derby also featuring among the fixtures.
