Celtic went level on points with second placed Hibernian in the SBS Scottish Women’s Premier League Division 1 with a 4-0 win over Stirling University.

Keeva Keenan and Rachael O’Neill both netted their first goals for Celtic, the former when returning c clearance from 30 yards, the latter side-footing in from an Emma Black corner.

Kathleen McGovern spun to fire in the third from a Rachel Donaldson cross with only half an hour played and got her second of the game in the dying minutes.

Both Celtic and Hibs trail leaders Glasgow City by eight points and have played a game more each.

Hearts are second in SWPL 2 following a 2-1 victory at fourth-placed Glasgow Girls, which puts them within three points of Hamilton Academical whom they visit next week.

Hearts had to come from behind though, Kirsten McGuire having given the hosts a 28th-minute lead with a header.

It was down to the last dozen minutes when Hearts struck back with Claire Delworth’s superb 30-yard strike and they soon went in front with a Rachel Walkingshaw free kick.

The ninety was almost up when Hearts’ keeper had to come off injured and deep into added time her replacement turned the ball onto the crossbar to protect their slender lead.

After the international break, it’s back to a full programme on Sunday 8 September.
