Rovers Have Title Within Reach

Two points from their remaining three games will be enough to secure Blackburn the Northern Division championship after a 3-2 win at last year’s winners West Brom. Ellie Stewart and Ella Toone put Rovers two up and although Olivia Mitcham and Trina Greaves replied to bring the Baggies level, Jess Holbrook grabbed a stoppage-time decider.

Derby mounted a fantastic comeback from 3-0 down to edge Stoke 4-3 and leapfrog them into sixth spot. The Potters were off at a pace anf three goals to the good a quarter through the match. Melissa Johnson got one back straight after the restart, with Samantha Griffiths getting the second on the hour and Johnson quickly equalising afterwards. Scoring in the seven-goal thriller was concluded with Nicole Ledgister’s 81st-minute winner.

Laura Walker stabbed home a loose ball after only 5 minutes, which proved sufficient for Fylde to defeat Nottingham Forest and climb to third in the table.

Tottenham Hit The Top

Tottenham took over at the summit of the Southern by winning the title ‘six-pointer’ at Charlton. The one goal came on 32 minutes as Nikita Whinnett fed Bianca Baptiste, whose first-time shot was palmed by Alex Baker but only to Wendy Martin, who guided it home.

C&K Basildon went sixth as they damaged Cardiff’s hopes of winning the division in a 3-2 reverse with a late winner. City had the bonus of two goals in the first 12 minutes but Addison quickly halved their lead. New signing Jay Blackie not only scored but won the penalty which Zoe Rushen converted.

West Ham got a late equaliser to tie 2-2 with Swindon, leaving the pair 3 points above basment side QPR, who have a couple of games in hand. Georgia Walters got both goals for Swindon, the second a penalty, with Molly Peters replying inbetween. Dayna Chong earned a draw for the Hammers with her 85th-minute effort.

Khalsa Move Second In Midlands

Sporting Khalsa’s 5-1 thrashing of Birmingham & West Midlands sent them second in Midlands Division 1, while Wolves slipped to third when held to a goalless draw at Solihull.

Long Eaton are up to sixth with a 3-1 defeat of Steel City, for whom Zoe Beresford had cancelled out Cara Newton’s opener. After United restored their lead, Amy Pashley’s penalty made sure of the points.

Leicester City Ladies won 4-2 at Loughborough Students to move out of the drop zone at Solihull’s expense.

Rosie Kinvig hit a six-minute hat-trick (Liverpool Feds)

Kinvig Chokes Chorley

Hull held the Northern Division 1 leadership with a 2-1 result against Morecambe, Katie Thompson and Emily Smith scoring for the Tigers.

Guiseley kept up the pressure by dismissing Tranmere 4-0. Natalie Brace got two, Sarah Danby and Chantelle O’Hara one each, with the Vixens also hitting the woodwork five times.

Liverpool Feds hit third-placed Chorley 6-1, featuring an incredible six-minute hat-trick by Rosie Kinvig. Carla Lee, Charlotte Gill and Lynsey Longhurst shared the rest of Feds’ goals.

Chester le Street came from 2-0 down to win 5-3 at Leeds and rise to fourth place.

Brighouse’s Charlotte Proud will be just that having bagged a brace in the 4-0 win at Crewe, likewise Steph Jones who saved a penalty at 1-0. Annabelle Cass and Lauren Doyle got the other goals for the Yorkshire side.

Mossley boosted their survival hopes with a 5-3 scoreline at home to Blackpool Wren Rovers.

Gills Get In Front

Unbeaten Gillingham assumed pole position in the South East with four unanswered goals at Lowestoft.

Not only did MK Dons slip off the top but it was in a 1-0 defeat at arch rivals AFC Wimbledon, who are now right on their tails thanks to Rebecca Sargeant’s goal.

Cambridge slipped to a 2-1 loss at Enfield, where Nuala McKevitt and Emma Thomas got the hosts’ goals.

Luton are fifth following a single-goal win at Ipswich courtesy of Amy Summerfield but their success was marred by Jodie Bellinger’s disolated shoulder.

City Super-Sub Secures Win

Substitute Kally Ambler grabbed an 89th-minute winner for Chichester against Larkhall, to put them a dozen points clear in the South West. City’s Cherelle Khassal had earlier forced an own-goal which the Larks found a reply to.

Keynsham clmbed into second with a 5-2 win over St Nicholas. Justine Lorton and Keka Vega got a couple each, Steph Souzsa was Town’s other scorer.

Southampton Saints saw off Maidenhead by four goals to two despite a spirited fightback by the Magpies.

Shanklin edged the meeting of the division’s two winless teams, beating ten-player Exeter 3-2 with a late goal. Kate Finch and Amber-Guy Kemp both levelled for City but Gemma Woodford’s hat-trick goal won it.

Lewes Can Look Forward To Final

Lewes were 1-0 winners at Leicester City Women in the delayed Plate semi-final tie, to set up a final clash with Huddersfield Town at Brackley Town FC next month. Shauna Cossens’ first-half free kick for Leicester came back off the upright but City had Sophie Domingo dismissed on 55 minutes for a high tackle. Within 10 minutes they had failed to clear a corner and Georgia Bridges’ header beat the home keeper.
