Republic of Ireland held on against a dominant Spain to draw 0-0 in their opening match at the UEFA Women’s U-19 Euros.
Katie Keane made a flying save to keep out a hooked effort by Pau, Meabh Russell prevented a Cris Libran from crossing the line.
When Keane only just beat a forward to the ball she was caught out of her goal by Daniela Agote’s lob but Eve Dossen was on hand to clear.
A rare Irish attack saw Joy Ralph through on goal, only for a late offside flag to deny her the opportunity.
Another last-ditch clearance came in the second half and Pau hit the post but the Irish held out for an impressive point.
A huge result for our WU19’s, earning a draw against Spain! 👏
