Regional Leagues Round-Up: Two changes at the top

Dulwich Hamlet and Peterborough Northern Star were the two changes at the top of the Women’s Regional League Premier Divisions on 27 October.

EASTERN – Star jump to top

PREMIER – Peterborough Northern Star jumped from fourth to first after a 5-1 win at Haringey Borough in which Leah Cudone scored four. Wroxham put five past Colney Heath to go second and Royston Town’s Rebecca Vass claimed half her side’s eight goals at AFC Dunstable.

1 NORTH – AFC Sudbury secured their first points with a surprise 2-1 downing of leaders Cambridge City Development, made all the more remarkable for having only 10 players for an hour. East Bergholt United’s Megan Partridge was on target in defeating Needham Market and Histon got the only goal at Newmarket Town to leapfrog them into third.

1 SOUTH – Millwall Lionesses are two points off the top after a remarkable 10-3 goal-fest with Lawford, while Leigh Ramblerswon 2-0 against Wodson Park.

LEAGUE CUP GROUP STAGE – Kings Lynn Town’s Rebecca Russell bagged a brace in the 3-0 scoreline over Hutton.

EAST MIDLANDS – Red card doesn’t stop Stags

LEAGUE CUP 1ST ROUND – Mansfield Town edged out Oughtibridge with an Ellie Marshall goal despite Kristina Ponder’s red card after only 10 minutes, Rotherham United’s Bradie Wild got three in the 7-2 win over Worksop Town, as did Arnold Eagles’ Demi-Leigh Crofts and Natasha Leach as Ilkeston Town were eliminated 6-1. Other results: Loughborough Students 5-1 Thrapston Town, Arnold Town 0-2 Sleaford Town, Corby Town 0-7 Chesterfield, Hykeham Town H/W Derby County Community.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Hamlet and Hackney hit top spots

Dulwich Hamlet went back to the top with a 2-0 defeat of Ashford Town (Middlesex), Whyteleafe are jus goal-differenvce behind following a Jessica Lewry treble in a 4-2 win over Denham United, while Dartford’s Sarah White got a double but it was canvelled out in a 2-2 tie by Saltdean United.

GREATER LONDON – An Amy Nicholson brace helped Hackney beat Tottenham Hotspur 3rds 3-0 and lead the table on goal-difference. New London Lionesses won 2-1 at Sutton United and there were walkovers for Leyton Orient Development at Victoire and Watford Development against Godalming Town.

SOUTH EAST COUNTIES PREMIER – Lewes Foundation were 5-2 winners at Herne Bay as they moved seven points clear, elsewhere Hassocks were held 3-3 at home by Eastbourne United.

NORTH EAST – Harrogate beat leaders

PREMIER – Harrogate Town were the first side to win against leaders Wallsend BC, Rosie Gill, Sophie Tinson and Lindsey Whitton on target in a 3-1 result.

1 NORTH – Two extraordinary scorelines as leaders Sunderland West End won 8-5 at Norton & Stockton Ancients Reserves with four by Alexandra Ross and Alnwick Town went above Blyth Town when thrashing them 9-2 away with five for Michelle Stewart.

1 SOUTH – Hepworth United got off the mar with six different scorers in a 6-2 success against Harrogate Railway.

NORTH WEST – Salford storm to summit

PREMIER – Tranmere Rovers are top by eight points following a 6-4 win at West Didsbury & Chorlton. FC United moved above Morecambe to third when edging them 2-1, Wigan Athletic held Manchester Stingers 2-2 and Fleetwood Town’s first points came 2-1 versus Merseyrail.

1 NORTH – Accrington Sports are a point off the leadership after hitting Penwortham Town for six, Blackpool went fourth with all three goals against Leigh RMI.

1 SOUTH – Salford City Lionesses stormed into first place as they netted a dozen at Burscough Dynamo, Didsbury overtook Liverpool Feds Reserves having edged them by the odd goal in five.

SOUTHERN – Ascot advance after late cup drama

PREMIER – Abingdon United went third with a 7-1 sinking of Woodley United in which Lauren May notched a treble.

ONE – AFC Bournemouth Development edged the derby against Bournemouth Sports with a Helen Corbin goal sending them third.

LEAGUE CUP 1ST ROUND – Ascot United’s Charlotte Crook netted an 88th-minute winner at Abingdon Town, who had Sam Mayo sent off in added time.

SOUTH WEST – Royal performance

PREMIER – Royal Wootton Bassett Town won a seven-goal thriller against Keynsham Town Development to go second in the table, Hannah Sims with all three goals for the visitors.

1 EASTERN – Bottom side Swindon Town Development beat leaders and neighbours Swindon Spitfires 4-3 as Abby Picton contributed twice to the victory.

PAT SOWDEN CUP 1ST ROUND – Bideford bowed out at home to league leaders Callington Town 3-0 and Middlezoy Rovers won 4-1 at Torquay United.

BRISTOL SOCCERWORLD CUP 1ST ROUND – Bristol Ladies Union beat Chipping Sodbury Town 7-0 with the help of a Hannah Price hat-trick, Almondsbury’s Zoe Hales got the sole goal at Cheltenham Town Development, Lavertstock & Ford pipped Swindon Supermarine on penalties after a 2-2 tie. Other results were: Frampton Rangers 1-2 Oldland Abbotonians, Plymouth Argyle Reserves 7-3 Feniton, Plympton 4-1 St Agnes.

WEST MIDLANDS – Stourbridge go goal crazy

PREMIER – Redditch United’s 6-2 success at Coundon Court opened up a three-point lead at the top, Solihull Ladies United just got the better of Crusaders 4-2 and Worcester City managed to draw with Stockingford A A Pavilion.

1 NORTH – Wyrley’s 5-0 win over Sutton Coldfield Town Royals extended their leadership to four points.

1 SOUTH – Stourbridge walloped Sedgley & Gornal United 18-0 to go six points clear, Kidderminster Harriers are second after Danielle Selmes scored four in a 7-0 defeat of Droitwich Spa and Kingfisher were 3-2 winners over Coventry City.
