Regional League Round-Up: Dartford and Luton Town Ladies new leaders

All eight Regional Women’s Football Leagues are now underway, with Dartford and Luton Town new leaders of competitions that kicked off last month.

EASTERN – Luton Town go top

PREMIER – Luton beat Bedford 2-1 with a Jess McKay brace to move into first place, while Colney Heath drew  2-2 at Peterborough Northern Star and Harlow Town went second with a 4-1 result at Wroxham. Elsewhere it ended; St Ives Town 1-2 Royston Town, Bowers & Pitsea 5-1 AFC Dunstable, Haringey Borough 0-12 Wymondham Town.

LEAGUE CUP GROUP STAGE – Needham Market’s 9-1 score against Hoddesdon Town Owls featured four goals by Katie Webb, Newmarket Town thrashed Bishops Stortford 13-0, Millwall Lionesses began with a 3-1 win at AFC Sudbury. Other results were; Cambridge City Development 6-0 Lawford, East Bergholt United 1-3 Stevenage Development, Histon 1-3 Kings Lynn Town, Wodson Park 1-5 Gorleston, Hutton 7-1 Leigh Ramblers.

EAST MIDLANDS – Town beat Eagles in Arnold derby

PREMIER – Ollerton Town’s Rachael Bell got four in the 9-1 win over Woodlands, Rotherham United won 3-0 at Leicester City Ladies, Oughtibridge got the single goal at Northampton Town and Peterborough United held hosts Mansfield Town 2-2 after Megan Parrett’s 86th-minute equaliser.

1 NORTH – Notts County Development netted six at Cleethorpes Town with three from Melissa East, Chesterfield sent Sleaford Town to a 5-0 defeat. The all-Arnold clash saw Town edge Eagles 4-3 and Grimsby Borough got the better of Lincoln Moorlands-Railway 2-1.

1 SOUTH – Notts County Senior’s Bella Reed and Nya Chambers scored in the first 5 minutes of a 3-1 result at Derby County Community, Beaumont Park came away from Corby Town with a 3-0 result and Ilkeston Town took the points 2-1 versus Oadby & Wigston.

LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Dartford new leaders

PREMIER – Dartford beat Ashford Town (Middlesex) 5-2 with Danielle Harrison twice on target to help her team come from 2-1 behind and replace QPR at the top.

LEAGUE CUP GROUP STAGE – Rangers Girls Development were meanwhile winning 1-0 at Dulwich Hamlet with an Anna Maria Dzyadyk effort. Olivia Walker got all three for Saltdean United in the 3-2 win at Aylesford, Eastbourne Town won 2-1 against Whyteleafe.

GREATER LONDON – Rebecca Munro struck five times in the first 21 minutes and went on to complete a double hat-trick as Godalming Town posted an 8-2 result over Victoire. Scores elsewhere were; Clapham United 2-4 Hackney, Orient Development 1-3 New London Lionesses, Watford Development 0-2 Spurs 3rds

SOUTH EAST COUNTIES PREMIER – Worthing won 7-0 at Herne Bay, Parkwood 7-3 at Crawley Wasps DS where Katie Jeffries scored three times for Rangers. Ashford Ladies had six different scorers – including three subs – at Eastbourne United, who got one in reply and had Elena South sent off. Lewes Foundation’s Chloe Nye got both goals in a 2-1 win at Hassocks, Phoenix Sports had a similar result at Newhaven.

NORTH EAST – Hartlepool hit eight

PREMIER – Hartlepool United’s 8-0 scoreline with York City featured a Justine Robinson hat-trick, Redcar Town recorded a 7-1 result over Ryton & Crawcrook Albion Tynedale, while there were 2-1 away victories for Farsley Celtic and Wallsend BC at Harrogate Town and Ossett United respectively.

1 NORTH – Norton & Stockton Ancients Reserves netted six of the ten goals at Boro Rangers, Chester le Street Town Development beat Prudhoe Town 3-1 away and Lumley had a walkover versus Washington.

1 SOUTH – Altofts beat Bradford Park Avenue 5-1, York Railway Institute defeated Hepworth United 5-2. Sheffield Wednesday edged Harrogate Railway 3-2 with a Jessica Morrison brace, Bridlington matched that result at Wakefield Trinity where Rovers’ Amy Ward found the net twice.

NORTH WEST – Sports win all-Accrington clash

PREMIER – After two games for most sides in under four days, a quartet won both of their matches after the following results; Fleetwood Town Wrens 0-3 Tranmere Rovers, Morecambe 4-2 Wigan Athletic, FC United of Manchester 3-1 West Didsbury & Chorlton, Merseyrail 1-2 Mossley Hill. Elsewhere, Manchester Stingers edged Sir Tom Finney 3-2.

1 NORTH – A trio of sides are on six points from two fixtures as Blackburn CSC beat Workington Reds 4-0, Penrith got the only goal at Leigh RMI and Blackpool won 3-0 at local rivals Preston North End. Accrington Sports sunk hosts and neighbours Accrington Stanley 7-1, while one goal was worth three points for Penwortham Town at Carlisle United.

1 SOUTH – Chester lead the table after hitting Wythenshawe Amateurs 6-2 but Curzon Ashton have the only 100% record left after sending West Kirby to a 6-0 defeat. A goal-fest at Liverpool Feds Reserves saw Salford City Lionesses come away 9-3 victors, while Warrington Wolverines won 4-1 at Didsbury.

SOUTHERN – Division 1 Bournemouth derby drawn at the death

PREMIER – Abingdon United’s Kiera Isaac claimed a hat-trick in a 6-1 outcome at Warsash Wasps, Moneyfields won 2-0 at Wycombe Wanderers, AFC Bournemouth beat Woodley United 3-1 and Oxford City were held 2-2 by visiting Newbury.

ONE – Bournemouth Sports shared four goals with AFC Bournemouth Development, Justine Mosley scoring two in the first 17 minutes for the former but substitute Ellie-Jai Stephens levelled in the last minute for the Cherries. Abbey Rangers’ Laura Hobbs got a treble in the 4-1 success at Wycombe Wanderers Development, other opening day scores were; Eastleigh 1-1 Abingdon Town, New Milton Town 4-1 Tilehurst Panthers, Alton 2-4 Southampton WFC Reserves.

SOUTH WEST – Two opening-day dismissals

PREMIER – Callington Town put nine past Torquay United who had Chloe McJury sent off and there was also a red card for Casey Quick of Middlezoy Rovers, who lost to a Yazmin Laver brace at Keynsham Town Development.
Wootton Bassett Town won 5-0 at Marine Academy Plymouth and Bishops Lydeard beat Bideford 4-2.

1 EASTERN – Sherborne Town’s 8-0 sinking of Swindon Supermarine was led by Jemma Tewkesbury’s five-goal haul, Frome Town pipped Forest Green Rovers 2-1 with a decider by substitute Enna-Maria Christmas, Laverstock & Ford drew 1-1 with Trowbridge Town.

1 NORTHERN – Weston Super Mare scored four against Downend and Flyers’ Danielle Cervaise-Brazier scored two 90th-minute consolation goals. Almondsbury saw off AEK Boco 3-0, Frampton Rangers posted a 3-1 result at Chipping Sodbury Town and there were 2-2 ties between Bristol Ladies Union and Weston Mendip, Cheltenham Town Development and Oldland Abbotonians.

1 WESTERN – Two 3-2 victories were dominated by hat-tricks; Feniton’s Stefanie Churchill-Matthews with three at Feniton, Alphington’s Helen Kukor doing likewise against Plymouth Argyle Reserves. Mollie Dring found the net five times in an 11-0 St Agnes thrashing of Exeter & Tedburn Rangers.

WEST MIDLANDS – Promoted Solihull United net dozen

Solihull United won their first ever West Midlands Premier Division match 12-0.

PREMIER – Solihull United netted a dozen against Knowle with five goals each for Hayley Wilford and Cat Harris, Stockingford AA Pavilion’s Mica-Marie Taylor  got all their goals in the 3-2 victory over Kidsgrove Athletic, while elsewhere it was; Coundon Court 1-4 Coventry Sphinx, Leek Town 5-1 Redditch United, Sutton Coldfield Town 1-1 Crusaders, Worcester City 2-1 Lye Town.

1 NORTH – There were big wins for Sandwell, (9-1 at Kewford Eagles) and Stoke City Development (7-2 against Solihull Sporting). Other results: Port Vale  2-4 AFC Telford United, Shifnal Town 2-2 Wyrley, Shrewsbury Town 3-0 Sutton Coldfield Town Royals.

1 SOUTH – Stourbridge scored eight at Kingfisher, Rugby Town began with a 5-2 result at Leamington Lions, Cookley Sports got the only goal at Droitwich Spa and Coventry City were held 1-1 by Sedgley & Gornal United.
