Atletico Madrid and Barcelona smashed the record attendance for a women’s league match in Europe when 60,739 watched Barca win the Liga Iberdola top of the table clash.
The turnout at the Wanda Metropolitano far exceeded the previous best set just in January this year, when 48,121 saw Atletico Bilbao host Athletico Madrid in a Copa del Rey match at San Mames Stadium.
The result saw Barcelona move within three points of leaders Atletico Madrid, with six games left each in the Primera División.
Asisat Oshoala gave Barca the lead and Toni Duggan doubled the advantage.
