Rangers Sink Celtic

Three goals in a ten-minute spell leading up to half-time set up Rangers for an impressive victory over their arch rivals.

The hosts were ahead just before the half-hour mark, as Nicola Davidson’s cut-back found Sarah Robertson who hit the back of the net.

The lead was doubled when the Gers were given a penalty and Claire Adams safely tucked it away.

Celtic – struggling to keep in touch with the SWPL top two – were three goals behind 6 minutes before the break, as Davidson turned in Hayley Sinclair’s cross.

The Hoops gave themselves some hope of a fightback with a reply 6 minutes into the second half, Sarah Ewens and Georgie Rafferty combining to set up Kirsty Howat to score.

Celtic pressure led to a point-blank save from Jordyn Elliot and a shot again the post by Sarah Crilly.

But Rangers held out and even restored the three-goal cushion late on, when Amy Muir’s cross was deflected in.
