A brace of Rachel Daly headers saw England beat Italy 2-1 in the Arnold Clark Cup, watched by a crowd of 32,128 at Coventry City.

Ellie Roebuck turned a Valentina Giacinti shot into the side netting, before Laura Giuliani twice saved from Rachel Daly.

On 32 minutes Daly did find the back of the net, heading home Katie Robinson’s cross.

Jordan Nobbs forced a save after coming in at half time but around the hour mark, Italy were level.

With two questions as to whether the ball was over the line, Barbara Bonansea crossed and Sofia Cantore’s header could not be cleared by Roebuck and was deemed to be in before Alex Greenwood’s clearance.

England were back ahead less than ten minutes later, Lauren James with the cross and Daly getting her second with a perfect header.
