Alexia Putellas won The Best Fifa Women’s Player award, goalkeeper Mary Earps and coach Sarina Wiegman also among those honoured.

Spain and Barcelona’s Putellas saw off Beth Mead and Alex Morgan for her second successive trophy, Manchester United and England’s Earps beat fellow nominees Ann-Katrin Berger and Christiane Endler, Lionesses’ Wiegman clinched her award ahead of Sonia Bompastor and Pia Sundhage.

Earps said: “Thank you to everyone who voted for me. I feel honoured to be holding this trophy. I just want to say thank you so much to my loved ones, who have picked me up off the kitchen floor to be here today. Not tonight, but a few years ago.

“Thank you so much to all my teammates, without them, this wouldn’t be possible. The coaching staff at Manchester United and England, but particularly Ian Willcock and Darren Ward.

“Anyone who has ever been in a dark place, just know there’s light at the end of the tunnel. Keep going. You can achieve anything you put your mind to. Sometimes success looks like this, collecting trophies, sometimes it’s just waking up and putting one step in front of the other. There’s only one of the you in the world, and that’s more than good enough. Be unapologetically yourself. Thank you everyone.”

Wiegman said: “It’s incredible to be here right now and celebrate women’s football. We have heroes in this room, little girls have their idols.”

Four Lionesses made the Fifpro Women’s World 11.
