PSG women have been hit with a hefty points deduction this season and the club has been left outraged as they believe the punishment is too harsh andย “totally disproportionate”.
It has been a strange start to the season for PSG women who have been left high and dry in the biggest of competitions.
The French giants were knocked out of Europe before Christmas following a disappointing league phase. PSG didn’t win a game in the Champions League and with just two draws the club finished second last in the competition.
After being knocked out of Europe, full focus turned to the Premiere Ligue for the Parisians.
2025 couldn’t have ended any worse for PSG though. The club received a nine point deduction in the league which dropped them from second to fifth.
With Lyon winning every game before Christmas, PSG are now 16 points adrift of the reigning champions.

PSG signed Florianne Jourde in the summer as one of their most exciting new arrivals. Despite the move initially being sanctioned by the French Football Federation (FFF), problems later emerged.
Jourde’s transfer required an International Transfer Certificate because she had previously been registered with a club in Canada – despite playing in a US college league just before moving to France.
A complaint was lodged by Fleury after they lost to PSG and the FFF ruled that the club had fielded an ineligible player.
Fleury were handed a 3-0 walkover for the game and PSG were also deducted nine points as a result of the issue.
PSG outraged after points deduction
A club statement from PSG read: “The club will contest the completely exaggerated penalty. The team is being severely punished on the field for a simple administrative matter that has since been smoothly resolved by FIFA: This is an obvious injustice.
“The club has always acted in good faith and with full transparency, based on the information available to them. The club has not gained any undue advantage from this situation. No harm was done to anyone.
“The FFF is punishing an administrative situation that they themselves validated by issuing Florianne Jourde a proper license. The player was duly qualified and held a license for the three matches she participated in.”
There is some good news for PSG fans coming out of this week, as the club is closing in on signing Everton striker Kelly Gago after she handed in a transfer request.
