Wednesday evening’s FAWPL action was all in Northern Division 1, as Morecambe drew with Brighouse Town and Bolton Wanderers won at Crewe Alexandra.
Brighouse battle for point at Morecambe
Brighouse Town failed to win for only the third time in eleven league games, when held 2-2 at fourth in the table Morecambe.
Charlotte Higginson opened the scoring for the Lancashire side but Annabelle Cass replied for their Yorkshire visitors.
The Shrimpers went ahead again through Becky Whittingham, only for Aimi Beresford to this time peg them back again in the 69th minute.
Bolton beat Crewe after penalty miss
Bolton Wanderers moved to within three points of fifth-placed Crewe Alexandra while still having as many games in hand, after beating them 1-0 away.
The goal came midway through the second half, as a mix-up in the Alex defence resulted in a shot being deflected into the back of the net.
The hosts had their chance to level with 10 minutes left after Beth Ragdale was brought down in the area but Laura Garner blazed the spot kick over the crossbar.
