Pre-Season Friendlies Round-Up for 29 July

Pre-season results over the weekend featured a 3-1 win for Liverpool at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday and a 3-0 victory for Birmingham City away to Glasgow City on Sunday.

Reading led 1-0 away to Ajax through a Lauren Bruton goal but were denied the win by a late Eshly Bakker equaliser.

Liverpool trialists scored two goals early in the second half and although Lagan Makin soon replied for Blackburn Rovers, Courtney Sweetman-Kirk netted from a Christie Murray set piece late on to seal the win.

Birmingham City were 3-0 winners at Glasgow City, where Lucy Quinn’s first-half goal was added to by an Ellen White brace after the break.

Bristol City were beaten 2-0 at home by London Bees, for whom Lauren Pickett and Tricia Gould were on target.

Emily Roberts early goal for Durham saw Rangers hit back to lead 2-1 at the interval but a Jordan Atkinson double then gave the Wildcats the win.

Liverpool Feds came away from Doncaster Rovers Belles 5-2 victors, Jen Rogers scoring three times.

Cheltenham Town were edged out just 3-2 at higher division Portsmouth, with the Robins’ goals coming from Annie Martin and Ellie Briscoe, while Rachel Panting made one and scored another for Pompey.

Newcastle shared six goals with a youthful Guiseley side, Jess Foster Rebecca Olley and Ellen Turnbull netting for United, Shannon Durkin with two and Mercy Darkoah getting the other for the Vixens.

Steph Smith featured with a first half hat-trick as Derby County hit Leeds United for six.

National League Chichester City had to overcome a half-time deficit before beating Southern League side AFC Bournemouth 4-2.

A Shannon Shaw helped Cambridge City hold Norwich City to a 3-3 tie.
