Portsmouth Women’s manager Jay Sadler has become the club’s first full-time member of staff, as he takes on a number of new responsibilities.

While overseeing the FAWNL Southern Premier side’s increase in training sessions from two to three nights a week, Sadler additional duties will be to increase local participation, grow the younger fan base and explore sponsorship opportunities.

Sadler told portsmouthfc.co.uk: “I’m massively proud. It’s a privilege. I’ve been here for a long time now and I’m really excited by the opportunities this new role brings.

“Off the pitch, this role opens up opportunities commercially to try and support the club. I’ll also be able to work closely with Pompey in the Community and the University of Portsmouth

“On the pitch, we want to build on how we finished last season, and I think being in this role will enable me to do so.

Pompey Women chairman Eric Coleborn said: “We’re delighted that Jay has transitioned into a full-time role.

“This will enable us, as a club, to put more efforts into increasing our fan base in line with our move to the John Jenkins Stadium.”
