Portsmouth Mourn Loss Of President

A part of Pompey Ladies for over 25-years, the club say they will not be the same without him.

The Portsmouth board have given this statement:

“Yesterday was without doubt, the saddest day in the history of Portsmouth FC Ladies. Our president, inspiration and dear friend, David Coyle lost his long battle with cancer and nothing at the club will ever be quite the same again.

Dave was held in very high regard by all in the women’s football community and that is evident in the tributes that we have received in all forms of communication since the sad announcement. All FA Women’s Premier League matches on Sunday will observe a minute’s silence in his honour.

We all have our own personal memories of Dave but the most public and richly deserved that everybody has, is the award he received only last December at The FA Women’s Football Awards ceremony for Outstanding Contribution to our sport.

Dave has been a major part of Portsmouth FC Ladies and has contributed much not just to the club but to Women’s Football as a whole and that is why a minutes silence will be shared around the grounds on Sunday ahead of all FA WPL matches.

He has spent many years serving the club he loved and was rightly dubbed Mr Portsmouth Ladies as he is the heart and soul of the club.

From everyone at the club, David Coyle may he rest in peace and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this tough time.
