England topped their UEFA Women’s U-19 Championship group with Poppy Pritchard scoring the only goal of the game against France.

Michelle Agyemang headed a good chance wide for the Young Lionesses, Freya Godfrey saw her drive turned round the post by Alyssa Fernandes..

France’s best first-half opportunity saw Landryna Bilombi head wide.

While goalkeeper Katie Cox kept a clean sheet, Vivianne Lia came off the bench to cause the French many worries but it was fellow substitute
Pritchard who made the breakthrough.

She found the top corner with a dozen minutes left and was denied a second by the keeper at the death.

The result sees England win the group ahead of France, meaning Serbia’s 4-1 win against Lithuania with a hat-trick by Nina Matejić was all in vain.

England will play the Group B runners-up in the semi-final on Wednesday, with the game live on BBC iPlayer, BBC Sport Website and uefa.tv.

Germany lead Group B on four points and meet Spain who have just the one point. Netherlands hold a similar advantage over Republic of Ireland, with both matches on Sunday at 12pm BST. They are live on UEFA.tv, while Ireland’s game is additionally on the RTE News channel and RTE Player.
