Khadija Bunny Shaw Women's PFA Players' Player of the Year

The PFA awards for the 2024-25 season are held in London on Tuesday, and here we list the nominees and give our predictions for the Women’s Players’ Player and Young Player of the Year awards.

PFA Players’ Player of the Year award nominees

  • Mariona Caldentey – Arsenal forward (nine goals and five assists in 21 Women’s Super League appearances)
  • Erin Cuthbert – Chelsea midfielder (five goals in 18 WSL games)
  • Mary Fowler – Manchester City forward (six goals and seven assists in 17 WSL games)
  • Yui Hasegawa – Manchester City defensive midfielder (zero goals and three assists in 22 WSL games)
  • Alessia Russo – Arsenal forward (12 goals and two assists in 21 WSL games)
  • Phallon Tullis-Joyce – Manchester United goalkeeper (13 clean sheets in 22 WSL games)

PFA Players’ Player prediction 2024-25

Our prediction to win the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award for 2024-25 is Arsenal forward Mariona Caldentey.

Caldentey enjoyed a stunning debut season at the Gunners, after joining from Barcelona last summer.

She contributed to 14 goals in 21 appaearances, as Arsenal finished second in the Women’s Super League.

The 29-year-old also contributed to Arsenal’s Champions League success, but missed from the spot during Spain’s penalty shootout defeat to England at the Euro 2025 final.

Caldentey’s main challenger for this award is likely to be Arsenal teammate and England striker Alessia Russo.

Russo won the Golden Boot with 12 goals last term, and is a contender to win the Ballon d’Or award.

Chelsea midfielder Erin Cuthbert might feel hard done by after helping Chelsea win a domestic treble, however, the award is likely to head to an Arsenal player.

PFA Young Player of the Year award nominees

  • Aggie Beever-Jones – Chelsea forward (nine goals in 22 WSL appearances)
  • Grace Clinton – Manchester United midfielder (eight goals in 21 WSL appearances)
  • Maika Hamano – Chelsea forward (two goals and one assist in 17 WSL games)
  • Mary Fowler – Manchester City forward (six goals and seven assists in 17 WSL games)
  • Olivia Smith – Arsenal forward – then playing for Liverpool (seven goals in 20 WSL games)
  • Wieke Kaptein – Chelsea midfielder (two and two assists in 16 WSL games)

Young Player award prediction

SheKicks predicts that Chelsea and England forward Aggie Beever-Jones will take the award for the PFA Young Player of the Year for 2024-25.

The 22-year-old enjoyed her best season to date, with nine goals in 22 WSL appearances.

However, this is perhaps the tougher of the two awards to predict. Grace Clinton won the Young Player of the Year award for 2023-24, and scored an impressive eight goals from midfield for Manchester United.

Olivia Smith meanwhile had a brilliant season for Liverpool, leading to a £1m move to Arsenal this summer.

Her former Canadian youth coach, Rhian Wilkinson – now managing Wales – said that Smith could go on to become football’s equivalent of basketball star Caitlin Clark, during an exclusive interview with SheKicks.
