Partick Thistle go fifth in ScottishPower Women’s Premier League

Partick Thistle won by the only goal at Spartans in the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League, overtaking Hearts who also lost 1-0 at Rangers.

Rangers remained six points clear at the top with a narrow win over Hearts, Jane Ross finding the net after half an hour.

Second-placed Celtic won at Motherwell, where Caitlin Hayes headed home a first-half corner and Amy Gallacher got the second from a Paula Partido pass.

Glasgow City hit Hamilton for six, Emily Whelan scoring in either half and the rest of the goals coming after the break from Aleigh Gambone, Lauren Davidson, Wilma Forsblom and Cori Sullivan.

Partick Thistle’s single-goal success at Spartans lifted them above Hearts into fifth spot. The  breakthrough came close to the hour mark, as Amy Bulloch’s free kick was head in by Carla Boyce.

Aberdeen had to come from behind to beat Montrose, Holly Daniel’s opener cancelled out by Eilidh Shore before Francesca Ogilvie fired in an 87th-minute winner.
