Hibs Hit Six More
Hibernian hit six for the second match running. Hamilton this time the recipients. Hibs struck four times in a 22-minute first-half spell, with Chelsea Cornet’s effort going in off Rachel Small for the first.
Abi Harrison headed in the second, Lucy Graham scored off a Katey Turner cross at the back post and a swift counter-attack ended with Amy Gallacher smashing the ball into the roof of the net from the edge of the box.
On the hour mark Small was involved again, this time flicking a cross into the bottom corner and in the last minute Emma Brownlie’s corner was nodded home by Siobhan Hunter.
City On Seven
Glasgow City are one of three sides two points behind Hibs after their 3-0 defeat of Aberdeen.
A free-kick by Leanne Ross from edge of box gave them the lead but it was two goals in the space of 6 minutes erly in the second half that sealed the win.
Nicky Docherty and Ross combined for Noelle Murray to head home, before Ross was again the provider for Savannah McCarthy’s goal at the back post.
Celtic Survive Red Card In Parkhead Win
Celtic had Ruesha Littlejohn sent-off in their big day at Parkhead but still managed a 2-1 win over Stirling University.
The Hoops went ahead minutes before half-time as Heather Richards’ cut-back was placed in the net by Natalie Ross.
Richards was again the provider 6 minutes into the second half, when Jaclyn Poucal headed in her corner.
Littlejohn hit the post and Kirsty Howat forced Chloe Logan into a tip over the top before Celtic had cause for concern.
Littlejohn was red-carded in the 81st minute and Michelle Russell halved the deficit but Stirling could not find the equaliser.
Early Goals Aid Spartans Success
Spartans also have seven points following a 3-1 win over Rangers, in which they were 2-0 up in the 15th minute. Collette Cavangh’s long-range lob gave them a second minute advantage, with a driven Ronaigh Douglas cross rammed home by Zoe Johnstone.
Rangers were back in it on 32 minutes with Amy Muir’s free-kick beating Rachel Harrison but the home keeper did well to deny Sarah Robertson when clean through.
Alana Marshall’s corner on 78 minutes was poked home by Carla Boyce to restore the two-goal cushion.
Four Out Of Four For Forfar
Forfar Farmington made it four straight wins in SWPL 2 with a 2-0 result at Glasgow Girls, who had also had a 100% record. Robyn Smith broke the deadlock on 4 minutes by sending a 20-yard volley over the head of the keeper. Kayleigh Noble slotted in the second in the last minute of injury time.
Hearts also dropped points for the first time, as Motherwell got off the mark with a 2-0 success, scoring once in either half.
First points also for East Fife who beat Buchan by the only goal.
Edinburgh University Hutchison Vale won a seven-goal thriller 4-3 away at Jeanfield, for whom Danni McGinley’s hat-trick came in vain. The Swifts scored first but Jude Shepherd and Ashley Fish turned the game around before the home side levelled. Nichola Sturrock restored Vale’s lead on 59 minutes and although Jeanfield replied again, Fish’s second secured a win for EUHV.
