Japan’s Coach Norio Sasaki and players Aya Miyama and Yuki Ogimi look to the gold medal match.
Aya Miyama (Japan captain)
On playing USA:
As far as the USA players are concerned I’m sure they will want to beat us after what happened last year (at the world cup) but we’ll be OK. We’re in a pretty good place.
On flying back in first class if they win gold:
It hasn’t been decided yet. We’re pretty small so it doesn’t matter what class of cabin we get in. Don’t believe the gossip, we’ll be happy to go home regardless of class.
Yuki Ogimi (nee Nagasato)
On how Japan has changed since winning World Cup:
Compared to last year our playing style has changed quite a bit – and my playing style has changed too.
Norio Sasaki Head Coach of Japan
On whether USA will have a stronger deire to win:
It’s not so much the strongest team wins but whoever wins is strongest. We won the world cup, so it follows that our players are very strong. This is the fourth time we have played against the USA team in the past year and through those experiences our team has grown in many aspects. We know we are able to play at an extremely high quality against them.
