As a teenager, she represented her country from U-15s through to U-19s and at club level she started at the tender age of 7 for Leeds United, where she not only played until the age of 22 but also captained the side. Thackray’s time at Leeds saw her collect a League Cup trophy, along with an FA Cup runners-up medal.
She went on to represent Bradford City and also Sevilla in Spain, where she collected further trophies.
The Vixens say that Thackery (26) is one of the most dynamic, creative number 10s outside of the Super League and possesses flair and tenacity in abundance. Her name has been in demand for a number of years, with Super League clubs knocking at the door,
Speaking on the signing, manager Glen Preston said:
“We sometimes have to pinch ourselves with the quality we’ve added to the club this pre-season its a perfect complement to the quality and dynamic of the players currently at the club.
“We didn’t in our wildest dreams expect that we would be unveiling a player of Liv’s class and experience but the scary thing is she’s not even had her best years yet. At 26 she’s very much coming into her prime, and if previous performances and standards are anything to go by, then we are in for one hell of a show!
“Every time I watch her in training, her vision is second to none. She’s clever with her movement…..in fact her ability to find space is a joy to watch. She makes goals out of nothing and she’s great with the younger players too. We’re delighted to have her on board and I’m confident she’s going to be a huge success!
Here’s what the midfield maestro had to say:
“I am looking forward to joining a very ambitious team, which has a lot of potential. After meeting with management and seeing the plans which are in place it seemed like the perfect new challenge and something I definitely wanted to be involved with. I am already enjoying being part of the club and cannot wait for a hopefully successful season to start.”
