Olga Ahtinen: Tottenham have to “build on momentum” from start of season

Olga Ahtinen netted her first goal of the season for Tottenham against Everton

Tottenham star Olga Ahtinen shone on her first start of the season with a goal against Everton and she is hoping to build on an impressive start to the campaign.

Ahtinen scored Tottenham’s first in a 2-0 win over Everton on Sunday afternoon.

Not many in the WSL have kicked off their season as sharp as Tottenham this year.

Spurs have looked formidable in their first two games under new boss Martin Ho and they followed a 1-0 win against West Ham with a 2-0 win over Everton.

After featuring off the bench in Spurs’ first game of the campaign, Olga Ahtinen was handed her first start of the season against Everton on Sunday.

The Finnish star was played out of position but still managed to make her mark on the game with a goal.

Olga Ahtinen: Spurs need to build on momentum

Speaking after the game, Ahtinen noted the importance of carrying momentum forward after a quick start.

“It’s really nice to continue that winning run, but also not to have conceded gives us further confidence on the things that work, the defending we did and the hard work we put in. It was a really good team effort.

“I know that’s what we want [three points] early in the season but, as a group, we want to build on the momentum and continue the positive displays from pre-season.

“We want to show we’re taking steps forward as a group and I think that’s what has been the most pleasing about the start to the season.”

Despite a change in CEO to start the season, Martin Ho has said that his team have no excuses in the league.

The fixtures only get harder here on out for Tottenham, who face another unbeaten side in Manchester City on Friday night.
