Nottingham Forest a week from folding

Nottingham Forest Ladies FC are urgently seeking significant funding/investment for the upcoming 2013/2014 campaign. If Forest Ladies are not able to attract a sponsor in the next 7 days, then unfortunately the club will have to fold.

Despite having a successful season coming second in the FA Women’s Premier League in 2012/2013, the club have struggled to attract a sponsor for the forthcoming league campaign.

During the close season we have re-structured the club by appointing a new management team for both senior squads and have retained the majority of our senior players from last season as well as some great additions to both squads.

Our First team have had 2 pre-season games so far and they have won 13-0 and 8-0 in each game and go into their 3rd pre-season game today against Oxford United Ladies FC.

The Reserves have also had their first pre-season game and won 7-1 and took on Mansfield Town Ladies at the weekend.

Nottingham Forest Ladies FC has a rich history dating back to the 1960’s, with the current incarnation being in existence since 1990, starting from the bottom and having success gaining promotion from every league eventually making it to the FA WPL National Division.

Lisa Dawkins, Director of Football, who has been with the club since 1990 said, “this is a critical time for the club, if we don’t secure significant funding in the next week then I am afraid we will have no choice but to fold. I hope this won’t be the case, as preparation for the new season so far has been excellent and inspiring.”
