Northern Ireland won their first leg UEFA Women’s Nations Leagues B/C play-off 2-0 away to Montenegro on Friday afternoon.

Armisa Kuc headed a good early chance for the hosts over the bar after a corner kick, at the other end Anastasija Krstovic blocked a Danielle Maxwell shot at the far post.

Lauren Wade was prevented from scoring by Aleksandra Popovic and also had a shot go inches wide of the far post.

Demi Vance forced Krstovic to tip her 30-yard strike round the post, before delivering the cross from which Wade headed Northern Ireland into the lead with 20 minutes to play.

The win was sealed in stoppage time, Vance burying a free header from Rebecca McKenna’s cross into the six-yard box.
