We feel the time is right to bring the highest level of women’s professional soccer to the Triangle.”
NCFC say that; ‘The State of North Carolina has always been a leader in women’s soccer. It has produced several legends including Mia Hamm, Christine Lilly, Anson Dorrance and Carla Overbeck. Cary, NC was the home of WUSA’s Carolina Courage for three seasons before the league folded in 2003.’
North Carolina FC was this week announced as the new name for Carolina Railhawks and the club also has plans for a Major League Soccer franchise for their current men’s side.
