Nine-goal Gunners win UEFA Women’s Champions League group

Arsenal went through to the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-finals as group winners after thrashing Zurich.

GROUP C
Lyon 0-0 Juventus
Zürich 1-9 Arsenal

GROUP D
Barcelona 6-0 Rosengård
Bayern Münich 2-0 Benfica

Arsenal secured top spot in their group by half-time in Zurich, when they were already 4-0 up. Frida Maanum netted a free-kick and got a second by the break, Stina Blackstenius and Caitlin Foord also scoring. Maanum completed her hat-trick after the interval, Blackstenius made it 6-0 before Fabienne Humm replied front a penalty. Foord’s second was followed by goals from Kim Little and Mana Iwabuchi.

Lyon progressed as runners up, despite being held to a goalless home draw by Juventus.

Barcelona were Group D winners and hit Rosengård for six, Asisat Oshoala’s earlydouble added to by Mapi León,
Fridolina Rolfö, Marta Torrejón and Alex Paredes.

Bayern finish second to Barca on goal-difference, beating Benfica as Klara Bühl scored both goals from Georgia Stanway assists.
