Newcastle United WFC are delighted to announce that Former Republic of Ireland International Thomas Butler has been appointed the new first team manager at the club.

Butler, 34, brings a wealth of professional experience to the role having worked closely with some of the Premier Leagues top managers including Brendan Rodgers, Roberto Martinez and Garry Monk.
The Former Sunderland, Hartlepool United and Swansea City midfielder was one of a number of outstanding candidates for the role, but his passion and enthusiasm for the game shone in the selection process.

“After finishing second from bottom in the FA Women’s Premier League Northern, we think with a few tweaks we’ll definitely improve in the coming seasons.”
“We have an excellent setup at Newcastle United WFC, and the connections we have will hold us in good stead for the future.”
When asked what he sees for the future at NUWFC, Thomas Butler was keen to show that the club is a sleeping giant in the Women’s game.
“The sky is the limit,” said Butler, “I believe we can challenge for honours if the squad takes on board what we have to say.”

Thomas also brings with him Assistant Manager Keith Graydon and Sports Therapist Steven Shaw, who will work alongside current first team coaches Michael Third and Stuart Herron.
Alongside Thomas, Newcastle have appointed Andrew Inness as the club’s Development Team manager and he will be joined by Adam Laidlaw.
