New Welsh League Kicks Off 4th September

For the forthcoming campaign, it will be run by the South Wales Women’s & Girls’ League but from 2017-18 it will come under the direct control of the FAW, bringing the women’s football structure in South Wales in line with that of the men’s.

The league will be in Tier 2 of Welsh football, along with the equivalent league in North Wales, the North Wales Women’s League.

The winning teams from both leagues will be eligible for promotion to the Welsh Premier League but details are still to be confirmed.

The 10 teams making up the new league are :-

Barry Town United
Caerphilly Castle
Caldicot Town
Cascade YC
Goytre United
Hafod
Newcastle Emlyn
Penybont
Pontypridd Town
Rhiwbina

Opening Fixtures: Sunday 4th September (2pm)
Caerphilly Castle v Rhiwbina (Owain Glyndwr Playing Fields)
Caldicot Town v Pontypridd Town (Jubilee Way)
Cascade YC v Penybont (Dufftryn Field)
Goytre United v Newcastle Emlyn (Glen Hafod Park)
Hafod v Barry Town United (Trehafod Park)
