Sunderland have signed Natasha Fenton on a professional contract from Barclays Women’s Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers.
The 24-year-old midfielder had been at Rovers since she was aged 13, captaining the side last season.
Fenton told safc.com: “I’m absolutely delighted to be here. I feel like it’s a great Club to be at, seeing how fantastic the facilities are, and I know football is massive here in the North East so I’m super excited to be here and I can’t wait to get going. I felt like this summer was a time for a change and a new challenge for me, Sunderland came calling and that’s what I wanted to do.”
Head Coach Mel Reay said: “Tash was a high priority for us to bring to Sunderland. She is a very experienced central midfielder who will bring a vast amount of quality to our team. Her leadership qualities will also add value to our high-performance environment, and she will be a great role model for the youngsters at the club.
