Women’s Regional Leagues fixtures on Sunday 9 October again brought a few three-figure attendances in London & the South East.
EASTERN – Five-star Luton
Premier – Luton Town made it five wins from five 4-2 at AFC Sudbury, Haringey Borough hit eight at Wroxham, Stevenage five at Kings Lynn Town. Needham Market’s Lois Balfour scored four in a 5-0 defeat of Harlow Town, Royston Town beat Bowers & Pitsea 3-1 away.
1 North – Newmarket Town are just goal-difference off the top following a 5-1 win against Yaxley Phoenix, in which Lidiya Mykhaylechko hit a hat-trick.
1 South – Wodson Park went top as Kristina O’Connell bagged a brace in a 3-1 win at Lawford, Barking beat East Bergholt United 9-2 to go second and Billericay Town Devs won 3-1 at AFC Sudbury Reserves.
League Cup – AFC Dunstable eliminated Hutton 2-1 in a Preliminary Round tie.
EAST MIDLANDS – Nottingham Trent University win top two clash
Premier – The leading trio all won, Chesterfield 3-0 at Arnold Eagles, Lincoln United 2-1 at Anstey Nomads, Notts County 3-1 away to Oughtibridge aided by a Nicola Emery brace. Mansfield Town got off the mark 3-2 at Rotherham United.
1 Central – Nottingham Trent University replaced Asfordby Amateurs in pole position when defeating them 4-1. Super-subs grabbed winners as Emily Barker netted on 92 minutes for Dronfield Town in a 2-1 victory at Mansfield Hosiery Mills, Leja Harvey bringing a similar result for Notts County Devs over Sherwood. Elsewhere, Ilkeston Town and West Bridgford drew 1-1.
1 North – Grimsby Town edged Sleaford Town 2-1 for a third straight win thanks to Danielle Brighton’s 85th-minute goal. Gainsborough Trinity’s Emily Murphy netted twice for a 3-1 win at SJR Worksop, Grimsby Borough got all four goals of the game at Lincoln United Devs.
1 South – Northampton Town Dev’s 5-0 success at Coalville Town to take top spot from Roade, who went down 1-0 at home to Peterborough United Devs and an Aliyah Palmer goal. Dunton & Broughton United edged Thrapston Town 3-2 away, Kettering Town defeated Loughborough Foxes Vixens 4-0.
LONDON & SOUTH EAST – Another 300+ crowd for Clapton
Premier – Millwall Lionesses won 2-0 at AFC Acorns to remain top on goal-difference from Worthing, 5-0 winners at Saltdean United. Dulwich Hamlet defeated Aylesford 7-0 in front of 213 fans, Ebbsfleet United hit Sutton United 6-1 watched by 126. Enfield Town downed Dartford 5-1, Fulham seeing off New London Lionesses three goals to one.
1 North – Clapton lead the table after they defeated Denham United 4-1 in front of a crowd of over 300, Kimberly Castro got four goals as Sport London E Benfica beat Hackney 4-2, Richmond Park saw off Leatherhead 2-0.
1 South – Ashford United extended their winning start to six games with a 17-0 battering of Bexhill United. Herne Bay’s Lauren Harris got a couple as they won 3-1 at Cray Valley, Bromley won 2-0 at Montpelier Villa and Welling United were 4-0 winners over Steyning Town.
League Cup – Substitute Eleonora Cottrell scored as Brentford knocked out Newhaven 2-0, Hastings United went through 2-1 at Watford Development, Grace Mayhead’s hat-trick for Maidstone United was all in vain as they bowed out 6-3 at Dulwich Hamlet Reserves.
NORTH EAST – Wallsend new leaders
Premier – Wallsend BC beat Alnwick Town 5-1 to move into first place, South Shields right on their heels after coming from behind to beat Hull United 2-1 with an Eve Gatens goal. Sunderland West End won 4-0 at Redcar Town, likewise Blyth Town away to Harrogate Town to get into credit after a points deduction.
1 North – Norton & Stockton Ancients Reserves pipped Washington 1-0, Thornaby edged West Allotment Celtic in a seven-goal thriller. Gateshead won 5-0 at Guisborough Town, Chester le Street United 8-2 at Hartlepool Pools Youth, while Hartlepool United beat Bishop Auckland 5-0 and Spennymoor Town put three past Wallsend BC Reserves.
1 South – It finished 4-4 between Harworth Colliery and Farsley Celtic Juniors, Ossett United drew 2-2 with Sheffield United Foundation, Jodie Langstaff’s treble helped York Railway Institute to a 5-1 result against Ripon City. There were big wins elsewhere; Altofts 6-1 Millmoor, Handsworth 8-2 Bradford Park Avenue, Sheffield Wednesday 1-8 Barnsley FC Ladies.
NORTH WEST – Wrens and Wanderers win on pens
1 South – Wythenshawe Amateurs claimed their first points with a 2-1 victory at Alder.
Argyle Sports Kit Cup 1st Rd – Two ties went to shoot-outs as Fleetwood Town Wrens won 3-0 from the spot at Northwich Vixens following a deadlock at 2-2, that was also the full time score between Wigan Athletic and Bolton before Wanderers went through 4-3. Accrington Stanley just got the better of Darwen 5-4, two games finished 4-3 in favour of Runcorn Linnets against Blackpool and Penrith over Penwortham Town. Another couple had 3-2 results as Mossley Hill Athletic beat Chester and Poulton Vics put out Blackburn CSC. There was just a single goal scored by Haslingden at Chorley Devs and Curzon Ashton against Tranmere Rovers, three other close ones ended 2-1 for Bury AFC over BRNESC, Cheadle Town Stingers against FC United of Manchester and Hindley who met Morecambe. Results elsewhere were; Altrincham 0-2 Crewe Alexandra, Salford City Lionesses 5-2 Preston North End, West Didsbury & Chorlton 7-2 Sir Tom Finney, Workington Reds 2-5 Warrington Wolves.
SOUTHERN – Subs save Badshot a point
Premier – Bournemouth Sports have won their opening three games, with Lauren Brewer getting the only goal at Wycombe Wanderers. Just a single effort decided two other fixtures, as Eastleigh’s Catherine Browning netted against Ascot United and Oxford City won at Winchester City Flyers. Abingdon United were 3-0 winners in the derby clash with Abingdon Town.
1 North – Penn & Tylers Green drew 1-1 with leaders Kidlington, Milton United closed the gap as sub Georgia Winger was on target in a 4-3 victory at Woodley United. Eversley & California beat Carterton 4-0 but there were no goals between Long Crendon and Caversham United.
1 South – Badshot Lea rescued a point from a 3-3 tie with Rushmoor after their subs Lucy Cook and Nicola Moore both scored. Selsey Devs’ Olivia Peters came off the bench for a quickfire brace in a 3-1 win at Abbey Rangers, Chichester City sank Woking 5-0 with four from Elinor Williams.
SOUTH WEST – Seven up for Activate
Premier – Poole Town held Sherborne Town 3-3 to end their perfect start, Bishops Lydeard and Torquay United gained ground with 4-2 wins over Liskeard Athletic (with an Imogen Miller hat-trick) and Warminster Town respectively. Bristol Rovers beat Ilminster Town 2-1 and Forest Green Rovers’ Charlie Rowlands scored two of their three goals at Royal Wootton Bassett Town.
1 East – Pucklechurch Sports have maximum points after three games following a 6-2 sinking of Paulton Rovers in which there was a hat-trick for Adele Hooper. AEK Boco beat Weston super Mare in a 5-3 goalfest, Frome Town scored five unanswered goals against Middlezoy and Weymouth’s 3-1 success over Stockwood Wanderers featured a a couple for Ruby Clark.
1 North – Oldland Abbotonians opened with a 2-2 tie at home to Downend Flyers, as subs Anneka Hawkins-Hoare and Jade Scammell wiped out a 2-0 half-time deficit.
1 West – Activate kicked off their campaign by beating Bideford 7-1, aided by a hat-trick from Angela Heard. Budleigh Salterton’s Kirsty Brown bagged a brace but so did Sticker’s Ellisha Davey for a 2-2 draw, Saltash United versus Feniton ended 0-0.
WEST MIDLANDS – Knowle to the fore
Premier – Worcester City’s 3-0 result at Crusaders was their fourth win in a row, Sutton Coldfield Town narrowly beat Lichfield City with Carly Aldred the scorer, Solihull Sporting’s 5-2 beating of Burton Albion saw Lauren Smith net three times, while Lye Town defeated Coundon Court 3-1.
1 North – Port Vale went top with a 3-1 win over Wyrley, Walsall second with a Jasmin Springer goal at Lichfield City Reserves and morning leaders Walsall Wood went down 4-0 at home to Shifnal Town, whose Jenna Boddison hit a hat-trick. AFC Telford United’s 2-1 win over Tamworth was down to a Jaime Duggan double, while Darlaston Town won 5-1 at City of Stoke.
1 South – Knowle netted four goals at Kingfisher and a fourth straight win as Demi-Lee Rolph clinched a treble, Long Itchington hit hosts Westfields for six, Coventry Sphinx continued their 100% record by beating Bewdley Town 4-1. Sedgley & Gornal United edged Leamington Lions 3-2 with a Nelia Severin brace, Rugby Town had a 6-3 result over Worcester City Devs with a Chloe Debaes hat-trick, Droitwich Spa returning from Rugby Borough 2-1 victors.
