Montrose win SWFL 2 title decider

Montrose won the Scottish Women’s Football League 2 North championship with a 2-1 victory at title rivals Stonehaven on Sunday 7th October.

SWFL 1 North – East Fife back on top

East Fife took the opportunity to go back to the top of the table with a 3-1 win over Aberdeen U-23s, while Dundee United’s match at Buchan was postponed.

Third-placed Inverness City edged fifth in the table Dunfermline Athletic 3-2, Cove Rangers won 2-1 at Westdyke.

Deveronvale won 3-2 against Raith Rovers to ensure their safety, while a 2-2 tie between Dee Ladies and Stirling University Development only served to confirm the pair in the final two positions.

SWFL 1 South – Spiders climb to third

While the tile showdown between Hibernian U-23 and Celtic Academy was postponed. Queens Park went third with a 5-3 victory at Renfrew.

Cumbernauld Colts thrashed basement side Falkirk 10-2 to go seventh, Westerlands were 6-2 winners over Morton and Blackburn United finished goalless at home to Boroughmuir Thistle.

SWFL 2 – Montrose secure North title

The Division 2 North title decider saw Montrose win 2-1 at Stonehaven to finish to by three points. Forfar Farmington Development sealed third spot with a 5-0 result over Ross County and Turriff United took sixth by winning 3-0 at Buckie.

Kilmarnock U-23s stayed top of West by a point with seven goals against Kilwinning, second-placed Ayr United went one better at home to Stranraer. Pollok United sealed third spot after beating Bishopton 4-2, United Glasgow finished fourth when edging St Mirren 3-2.

Glasgow City Development are within four points of 2 Central leaders Airdrie, with one game still in hand, after netting a dozen times against Broxburn Athletic.

Two East top team Kelty Hearts had the frustration of a cancelled match but Edinburgh Caledonia did them a huge favour by winning 2-1 at title rivals Spartans Development. A point at mid-table GOC Academy next Sunday will see Kelty as champions.
