Saturday 15th April
FAWSL 2 SPRING SERIES

London Bees 1-2 Millwall Lionesses (Att: 375)
Sheffield FC 3-2 Oxford United (Att: 246)

Millwall Hold Off Bees Fightback

Millwall went level on points with third-placed Aston Villa, after two first-half goals at The Hive proved enough.

Sarah Kempson rattled the Bees bar with a powerful strike and although Ella Rutherford hit the rebound over, she did find the net from close range on 16 minutes.

They were two goals to the good 8 minutes later, Charlotte Devlin clipping an audacious chip over keeper Sophie Harris.

The hosts replied just a couple of minutes after the interval, as Ashleigh Goddard wriggled away from two defenders to slot home.

The Lionesses’ Leanne Cowan hit the post and Harris denied Kempson, while Goddard went close to a late leveller.

Dear Set-Pieces Contribute To Sheffield FC Win

Sheffield FC scored off two set-pieces by debutant Jenna Dear (pictured above), as 3 goals in 13 minutes secured them 3 points.

Oxford were ahead after 18 minutes when Ini Umotong converted a penalty won by her, following a challenge by Emma Johnson.

Seven minutes into the second half, Hannah Dale won a free-kick on the edge of the visitors’ box and Dear stepped up to shoot low into the net.

Another Dear set-piece 6 minutes later fell for Johnson, who fired home from 25 yards out.

On 65 minutes Hannah Cain had a shot blocked in the box but Ellie Gilliatt smashes in the rebound.

United were back in it with 14 minutes to go as Jess Frampton’s cross was headed home by Umotong.

But in a tangle with keeper Jules Draycott, both were booked and with Umotong already on a yellow, Oxford were down to ten players.
