Mills ‘Very Humbled’ By Belles Award

The Belles say that Mills was a huge part of their squad both on and off the pitch but was forced to retire from the game in March of 2016.

Joining Doncaster in 2013, Mills represented England at youth levels until she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis earlier this year, shortly after signing a new contract upon our return to FA WSL 1.

The young full back was, and still is, a popular figure around the club and always has a smile upon her face when she returns and backs the Belles at games and in training.

Club legend and General Manager, Sheila Edmunds said of Mills: “Even having the bad news, Ash took it well and got on with it.

“Ash is Ash and we love her to bits. We wanted to celebrate what she achieved in such a short period of time whilst she was with us as a player.”

On receiving the award, Mills said: “I would like to say a massive thank you to the club to giving me an award.

“I feel very humbled to have received this award and that people have still thought about me.

“I am really gutted that I had to retire from the game and I wish the Belles every success for the future and they will soon be back at the top of the game.”
