FAW WOMEN’S CUP SEMI-FINALS
Cardiff City FC v Cardiff Met (Cambrian & Clydach Vale FC)
Llandudno v Swansea City (Newtown FC)
ORCHARD WELSH PREMIER LEAGUE
Abergavenny v Cyncoed (Abergavenny Town FC)
Cardiff Met already have a taste for silverware having recently defeated Abergavenny Town to win the Welsh Premier League Cup, and have the psychological advantage heading into the semi-final match thanks to the two 4-1 wins over Cardiff City FC Women this season, says faw.cymru.
The Bluebirds reached the semi-final with a 4-2 win at North Wales minnows Bethel, while Cardiff Met edged past league rivals Abergavenny 2-0 through goals from Jassie Vasconcelos, against her former club, and the in-form Chloe O’Connor.
The second semi-final of the FAW Women’s Cup will see Orchard Welsh Premier League leaders Swansea City take on Llandudno, and the Swans will be keen to carry on their impressive campaign by emulating their league form in the Welsh Cup.
The Swans have already claimed three victories over Llandudno this season, so will be favourites to take on one of their Cardiff rivals in the women’s domestic showpiece final.
Swansea defeated Cardiff City FC in the 2015 final, and with Ian Owen’s side high in confidence, a repeat of that success is well within their capabilities. Swansea reached the last four with a comfortable 4-1 win over Rhyl, while Llandudno defeated Briton Ferry Llansawel 4-2.
Meanwhile, in the WPWL, Abergavenny will go above Cardiff City into third if they defeat visitors Cyncoed, who are eight points behind with a game in hand.
