Meiwald Is Bees’ Sixth Signing This Week

She will be available for London Bees’ first competitive game of 2017 on 5th February, in The SSE Women’s FA Cup against Millwall Lionesses.

London Bees say that as a classic ‘old school’ defender who joined Chelsea from Arsenal in 2013, Meiwald helped the Blues win the FA Cup and WSL in 2015.

Bees head coach David Edmondson commented that Meiwald is an exceptional talent with “experience of training and playing at the highest level” throughout her career. He added that despite her youth, she will be a physically and technically gifted asset that will add considerable experience to the Bees backline.

After a tough year last season at Chelsea with injuries, Meiwald is looking forward to playing in competitive matches in the WSL 2 with the Bees, as they look to build on the successful performances last season with a promotion bid.

Meiwald was impressed by the professional calibre of the Hive facilities, and looks forward to playing in Edmondson’s squad. She appreciates ‘the way Dave coaches’ and his style of play which she says suits her preference of playing out of the defensive third and maintaining possession on the pitch.
