Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Marie Hourihan has joined SC Braga from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 32-year-old had initially joined Brighton on loan from Manchester City but later made the move permanent.

Braga won the Portuguese women’s top flight last season and have been grouped with Apollon, Sturm Graz and Latvian hosts Rīgas in the Champions League qualifying round.

Speaking to scbraga.pt, she said: “I got a good first impression of the club, the facilities, the infrastructures, the training grounds and the stadium. Now I’m looking forward to the pre-season and then the season. “”

Hourihan saw a SC Braga game last season and was impressed: “I came to visit and saw a game. The environment, the way fans welcome the team and the whole organization of the club. I really got a good impression and made me want to come here. “
