Manx Meet Gotland For Island Games Gold

Hosts Gotland reached the Island Games gold medal match with a 2-1 victory over Jersey.
Ellen Olafsson bagged a three-minute brace in the first half, with Megan Wood’s reply not arriving until stoppage-time.

Isle of Man will join them in Friday’s showdown, after a 4-2 win against Isle of Wight.
Katy Rawlinson scored just 4 minutes in for the Isle of Wight but Sarah Wignall levelled a minute into the second half. Eleanor Gawne made it 2-1 to the Manx team, Alexandra Honour adding two goals before Gemma Woodford got one back.

Aland retrieved a 2-0 interval deficit to take Menorca to penalties, where the Scandinavians won 5-4. Melanie Karring and Elin Lindström struck to cnacel out goals by Ainhoa Andreu and Celia Calvo.

Western Isles finished seventh, coming from behind to edge Greenland 2-1. Lisa Lind’s effort brought a 55th-minute equaliser from Mary Macleod, with Shana MacPhail hitting the winner 13 minutes later.

Hitra avoided a last place finish when Nina Antonsen’s 56th-minute effort was enough to beat Gibraltar.
