Manchester United vs Leicester preview

Last year Manchester United women enjoyed a successful campaign and they finished third in what was a tight top four.

The women’s team has continued to suffer the same consequences as United’s men this summer, with club spending at a minimal with the club struggling for funds.

The Red Devils still managed to sign highly-rated Swedish duo Julia Zigiotti Olme and Fridolina Rolfo.

United enjoyed a short pre-season with a win against Real Betis and draws vs Liverpool and Manchester City.

As well as pre-season, United also took part in two Champions League qualifiers. The club advanced to the third round of Champions League qualifying after beating PSV and Hammarby.

Leicester City have had a fairly quiet transfer window this summer. Four players departed Leicester with the club signing Celeste Boureille, Katie Keane and Emily van Egmond in their place.

The Foxes lost Lioness Ruby Mace just a week before the WSL begins to Everton for a club-record fee.

Manchester United vs Leicester team news

The Manchester United lineup should be very similar to the one named to face PSV and Hammarby in the Champions League last week.

Fridolina Rolfo is still absent from the United squad with injury. Julia Zigiotti Olme has already featured for United in Champions League qualifiers though and is expected to start against Leicester.

Elisabeth Terland has started her campaign with four goals in two games and will lead a hungry United attack.

New Leicester head coach Rick Passmoor will take charge of his first game for the club on Sunday.

With Passmoor only hired during the week, he hasn’t had long to get to know the team and may start a similar line up to the one Leicester finished last season with.

Leicester’s new midfield maestro, Celeste Boureille, could make her competitive debut for the Foxes having signed from Montpellier in the summer.

Predicted lineups

Manchester United: Tullis-Joyce; Riviere, Le Tissier, Janssen, Sandberg; Zigiotti, Miyazawa; Toone, Naalsund, Bizet; Terland

Leicester: Leitzig; Thibaud, Swaby, Ale, Bott; Tierney, Cayman, Boureille; Goodwin, Cain, Chossenotte.

Manchester United vs Leicester prediction

The head to head stats between these teams are extremely one-sided, with United winning 11 out of the 14 clashes.

United won both of last season’s head to head’s by a margin of 2-0.

With another dominant United performance expected this weekend, we are predicting the Red Devils to win 3-0 at home.

Prediction: Manchester United 3-0 Leicester
