Sweden international Julia Zigiotti Olme joins Manchester United

Manchester United women have made their first signing of the summer with Julia Zigiotti Olme agreeing to a two-year deal.

Olme joins the Red Devils from Bayern Munich after spending the summer with Sweden at Euro 2025.

Julia Zigiotti Olme won the Frauen-Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal with Bayern Munich last season.

The midfielder leaves Germany after just one year with Bayern, and Olme already has experience playing in England.

Olme bounced around Swedish clubs in the early stages of her career before moving to Brighton in 2022. The 27-year-old made 51 appearances for the Seagulls before earning a move to the Frauen-Bundesliga.

As well as an impressive domestic career to date, the new Manchester United signing also represents her national team.

Olme made her international debut for Sweden at just 20-years-old and since then she has remained ever present in the squad.

Sweden had their hearts broken by England at Euro 2025 in the quarter final stage but the team looked impressive up until they were knocked out.

Peter Gerhardsson started Olme in three of Sweden’s four games in Switzerland and the midfielder consistently impressed throughout the tournament.

Despite a positive run at Euro 2025, Sweden are 80/1 with UK betting sites to win the 2027 World Cup.

What did Olme say after joining United?

Speaking in her first interview after signing for United, Olme said: “I am so happy to be here and so happy to get started and to join this family.

“I have been watching Manchester United in the last couple of years and, having seen what they have been doing, I am very impressed. They are a team that fits me and my style. Meeting the players has been great. They were like a family and it was a fantastic way to start.”

Olme will hit the ground running for United with three pre-season fixtures to look forward to in August.

United also have a Champions League qualifier against PSV before their WSL season begins in September.
