Manchester midfielder Jess Park has been named the Women’s Super League (WSL) Player of the Month for October.

It is the first time that the England international has won the award since March 2023.

Park has made a brilliant start to life at Manchester United since she joined the club at the end of the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old joined the club in a cross-city switch which saw Grace Clinton head in the opposite direction to Manchester City.

How Jess Park won the WSL October Player of the Month award

Women’s Super League teams only played two games in October due to the upcoming international break.

Park won the WSL Player of the Month award after excellent performances against Chelsea and Everton.

She completed the most dribbles (6) and won the most duels (7) during United’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

This was the first and only time so far this campaign that Chelsea have dropped points in the WSL.

Park was then named the Player of the Match after coming off the bench to score a second-half brace, during United’s 4-1 victory over Everton.

The midfielder suffered a delayed concussion during the match, forcing her to miss United’s Champions League victory against Atletico Madrid.

She was then forced to withdraw from the England squad due to her concussion symptoms.

Park’s stats this season

Park has three goals to her name this season, with only Melvine Malard, Aggie Beever-Jones, Khadija Shaw and Ornella Vignola scoring more.

The England midfielder also ranks in the top 10 across the WSL for goal-creating actions (8th with 3), successful take-ons (3rd with 10) and progressive carries (9th with 16).

Who won the WSL Manager of the Month award for October?

Manchester City head coach Andree Jeglertz was named as the WSL Manager of the Month.

Jeglertz led his side to a dramatic 3-2 win over Arsenal at the start of October following a late winner from Iman Beney.

An 86th-minute winner from Aoba Fujino then saw Gareth Taylor beaten by his former side in a 2-1 victory for Manchester City over Liverpool.

Jeglertz has made an impressive start to life at Man City and sits just one point behind leaders Chelsea in the WSL.

Park and Jeglertz succeed Aggie Beever-Jones and Sonia Bompastor won the Player and Manager of the Month awards respectively for September.

What’s next for Jess Park?

After being pulled out of the England squad for their upcoming friendlies with Brazil and Australia, Park will hope to be ready for Manchester United’s next game.

The Red Devils return to action in the WSL on Sunday, November 2nd, when they travel to Brighton.

United’s following fixtures include home clashes with Aston Villa and Paris Saint-Germain, followed by the Manchester derby on November 15th.
